Cheriyal Scroll Painting is a traditional painting idiom from the south Indian state of Telangana. The paintings are painted in a narrative format, often in scrolls, much like a film roll or a comic strip; or in the contemporary context, in singular story panels, like this one. The style is largely used to depict stories from Indian mythology.

This artwork depicts the story of Kaliya Daman, the subjugation of the serpent Kaliya (who was polluting the Yamuna river with his poison).
