Vyom Mehta (Profile)
Having studied sculpture at Baroda, Vyom has presented his work at the India Art Fair, at the Jaipur Lit Fest, as part of group shows in Bombay and Delhi as well as in several site-specific commissions. Most recently, his work was seen at Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum of Art.
Vyom carries the germs of his early apprenticeship with Lynda Bengalis in America. In his more recent work, he has collaborated with the potters of Mandla, MP as part of a livelihoods programme administered by the Asian Heritage Foundation. This has led him to explore folk practices within the contemporary context and has engaged in multiple meaningful collaborations with terracotta artisans from across the country, specifically exploring ideas of identity and vernacular aesthetics.
