Sankrant: Kite based Decollage works by Himanshu Verma

The festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated with an unmatched fervour in Jaipur, and kites dot the skyscape for many days around the festival. For years, I have been obsessed with the beauty of this practice and the deeper symbolism of kites: hence working with found kites fitted into my decollage based practice rather aptly. The artistic practice of Decollage (originating in the 20th c. in Europe) involves the use of found urban objects such as posters.
