Straddling the seemingly disparate worlds of traditional visual idioms like Pattachitra (the primary traditional style of his home state Odisha), and his own contemporary artistic practice; Rout reinterprets some Pattachitra classics in his inimitable style in this quartet of new works - from the Nayika to the Kamadhenu and the mythical Navagunjara. The traditional figures are juxtaposed with abstract layering - classical ideas collide with more contemporary elements effortlessly.
