A form of Kali, Devi is the goddess of battle-fields, death and decay. As per Bengali tradition, the Goddess as Uma travels down from Mount Kailash to the plains to her father’s home during the winter Navaratras. She travels using various modes. In this depiction the goddess travels via an elephant; accompanied by her attendants.

Abhijeet Roy is a self taught artist with Bengali roots and a sharp inclination towards Shakta traditions and Tantra, that are the major inspirations depicted in a contemporary art style in his work. He has been making art since childhood, working with watercolour as the primary medium. His artworks are personal artistic expressions of the Tantra, Sri Vidya and Shakta theology traditions.
